Fire Emblem & Animal Crossing Coming to Mobile

Unread postby Stritix » Thu Apr 28, 2016 3:29 am

Nintendo will release a pair of mobile apps based on its Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises, the company confirmed today. Both are targeted for release sometime this fall.

Fire Emblem for mobile devices will be "more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem games for Nintendo's dedicated gaming systems," Nintendo said in a release, but will "offer the great value of a role-playing strategy game."

The mobile version of Animal Crossing will connect somehow to at least one of the Animal Crossing games for Nintendo's dedicated gaming systems, though the company didn't specify which titles would feature connectivity. Nintendo's most recent games in the franchise include Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival for Wii U and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for 3DS.

Nintendo described its mobile Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing titles as "pure game applications."

"Compared to Miitomo, they have more prominent game elements, and the game content will tie closely into Nintendo's dedicated games business," the company said in a release. "Nintendo will provide more details about these applications closer to their launch period, and aims to have multiple types of apps that appeal to different audiences and different groups of players."

Nintendo launched its first mobile app, Miitomo, for iOS and Android devices in March.

This is actually pretty interesting. Perhaps the highly anticipated Animal Crossing main sites title for Wii U is finally coming with some type of mobile app supporting it? I'm just guessing. I can't quite imagine an app working with the recent Animal Crossing titles as they weren't set up for that kind of connectivity.
